This machine was made to a specification co-developed with the customer. Expanded polystyrene foam (styrofoam tm) was filling the trash and landfill too quickly. The goal was to develop a device that would reduce the foam to popcorn-sized bits; the bits can be sold to decorative-concrete vendors as weight- and cost-reducing filler. The cutter is driven at about 230 RPM by the half-horsepower motor.
